Mercedes-Benz G-Class Launch - Graz, Austria
MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS LAUNCH
When you walk into the the Mercedes Benz G-class Experience center in Graz, Austria. The first thing that strikes you is not the Germanic clean lines. Nor is it or the perfectly chilled air . No, the first thing that strikes you is a vast block of Amber big enough to swallow a medium sized T-Rex. But, in this particular block of Amber, is a 1979 Mercedes Benz G-Class.
I was working with Mercedes-Benz on their launch of the latest model of the G-Class. Invited along to Graz, to experience this new model and given the opportunity to put it through its paces. Graz, Austria is the home of the G-Class. Manufactured here since the 1970s. Hand built, they only make between 4,000 to 6,000 units per year. Making this a rare and very desirable car.
I had the opportunity to drive the new model G-Class both on the road and off. On the road, as you would expect, is a refined thrilling experience. Taking one off the road yet, is where the car comes alive. I found myself shocked and stunned by the cars ability to drive in circumstances beyond comprehension. It was a joy to plough through muddy waters and climb precarious gradients.
It was an experience I will never forget.
