Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 - Snowdonia, Wales
MERCEDES-BENZ AMG G 63
Passion, Perfection & Power
I like to get out of the city. The wide open spaces of the countryside have always helped me reflect on my goals and dreams. Getting back to mother nature is where I go to nourish my mind and find my soul. The outdoors also bring challenges to my work, testing my creativity dealing with the terrain and the split second weather changes you get in Snowdonia.
I drove the Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 across England, into Wales and then into the heart of Snowdonia. The 4 litre engine powered me along the motorways, yet felt composed. The 4 wheel drive to navigate the tracks of Snowdonia, meant I never fatigued.
First designed as a military off road vehicle by Mercedes-Benz at the request of the Shah of Iran. Mercedes-Benz released a civilian version in 1979. Thankfully, Mercedes-Benz have stuck to their story with the G-Class. Little has changed in it's iconic exterior design since then.

Sure, the AMG G 63 can still drive through the deepest of streams or climb the steepest of gradients. But now Mercedes-Benz have added functionality such as the Active Distance Assist. This keeps you a safe distance from the car in front when you are in cruise control.
The AMG G 63 line also has, as standard, my favourite accessory the 360° parking camera. The AMG G 63 is a big, heavy car. You have more confidence in the manoeuvrability, with the visibility this brings.
Passion, perfection and power is how Mercedes-Benz describe the AMG G 63. I want to add a word to that ruthless. The sound of the exhaust, especially when both exhaust flaps are open is like music to my ears. This car is special, very special. And that's how you will feel driving it too. Whether you are in the streets of the city or offroad in the countryside.
Of course, the interior now has a modern twist. The original was a stripped back offroader. More suited to the requirements of the military or farmers. Today's model is a luxurious cocoon of soft leather, solid hardwood with a widescreen cockpit display.

And what could be better than dressing right for the occasion. Snowdonia is a proving ground for the UK's military. So it felt right to bring an outfit that wouldn't seem out of place.
Alpha Industries, manufacturer of high performance outerwear since 1959, supplied the Jacket. It kept me ready for the elements throughout the photo shoot. The boots are Dr Martens, my favourite boot brand. The iconic design inspires individualism and self reliance. The trousers are a Limited Edition by Lee Cooper. I purchased these from a store in Gir Jungle, India. I had gone there to see Lions in the wild and these were the trousers that the jungle guides wore. They are only available from this store, so if you like them, you'll have to take a trip there yourself to buy these limited edition trousers!
